What is the underlying difference between hatha yoga and vinyasa yoga? This question seems to come up a lot, especially for beginners. In this article we’ll go over the main differences between hatha yoga VS vinyasa yoga. Vinyasa yoga can be thought of as being on the opposite end of the specturm. Vinyasa yoga is much more fluid in nature and is definitely for more experienced yogi’s. It can be a huge mistake if you embark in vinyasa yoga with little to no experience. This is so due to the fact that the complexity of this yoga protocol can leave even the most motivated beginner overwhelmed and burnt out.

As you can clearly see in the video here, there are indeed distinctions between both hatha yoga and vinyasa yoga. So much that they are virtually opposites of each other. On one hand, you have hatha yoga. It is a much easier type of yoga (depending on the postures). And on the other hand you have vinyasa yoga which is much more complicated and fluid from posture to posture.

If you happen to be a yogi expert, then you can and should utilize both hatha yoga and vinyasa yoga. It can be very refreshing to use multiple types of yoga instead of just using the same old methods day in and day out. Doing the same things over and over can lead to burn out and can maybe even lead to having you quitting. This is far from what you want.

So, the best thing for you to know before you embark in either of these two yoga disciplines is to first know just where you are on the yoga spectrum of experience. You may not want to overwhelm yourself with the fluidity and complexity that comes with vinyasa yoga. Also, at the same time yo may not want to limit yourself to the more simplistic way of hatha yoga if you feel as though it is not challenging enough for you. In addition to these factors, you should also be aware of your own individual preference. Make sure you’re having fun with what you’re doing and enjoy the experience!
